Burt Frisselle’s Day Over Before it Begins at Miller Motorsports Park
(Tooele, UT) 20 September 2008 – Burt Frisselle’s final Rolex Sports Car Series race of the 2008 season was over before it started after first lap contact at the green flag ended the day for his No. 77 Kodak Ford-Dallara co-driver Memo Gidley in the season-finale SunRichGourmet.com 1000 on Saturday.
Frisselle, who finished fifth in the 2006 Miller event, could only watch helplessly as the green flag front stretch melee saw cars spinning and making contact just seconds into what was to be a seven hour endurance race.
“It’s so frustrating, I can’t even describe it,” said Frisselle. “I haven’t seen a really good replay of what happened, but no matter what, there is no question that someone was being so much more aggressive than they needed to be a the start of a seven hour race. It’s ridiculous. The Doran guys put so much work into this weekend.
“It takes so much effort and so many resources to be ready to go for a seven hour race, and to have it end just seconds into it just isn’t right. We’ve had an up and down season this year and we were hoping to close out on a good note, but this wasn’t it! Thanks to Kevin and Kodak for having me be part of the effort and I’m just sorry I didn’t get the chance to help today.”
Frisselle has run a limited schedule during the 2008 season, teaming with Ricky Taylor in the No. 47 Brach’s machine in the second half of the year and taking seven top-ten results in the chassis’ first year of Rolex Sports Car Series competition.
