Frisselle Racing has High Expectations for VIR
Brand-new Dallara fast for Burt, while Brian looks to turn strong Mexico City pace into VIR success

(Danville, VA) 24 April 2008 – The Bosch 250 at VIR race weekend is one that both members of Frisselle Racing have had marked on their calendars for quite some time. Both Burt and Brian used to live close to Virginia International Raceway, and they also both have had some strong runs on the twisty 3.27-mile natural terrain road course since stepping up to the Rolex Sports Car Series.

The VIR race weekend marks just the second race outing for the No. 47 BSI/CDOC Ford-powered Dallara of Burt Frisselle and Gabriel Gardel. Last weekend, the Doran-prepared Dallara had an outstanding debut, not having ever turned a wheel but still delivering a top-five qualifying effort in the hands of Burt. Unfortunately, he was thwarted in his effort for a top-five finish when a speed-limiter failed going down pit lane, the only miscue on an otherwise outstanding weekend. Despite the setback, the No. 47 proved fleet enough to make back much of the lost ground, finishing ninth in the 32-car field.

With a fast new car and a solid finish of 6th at VIR last season, Burt has reason to be optimistic heading into the Bosh 250.

“Bring on VIR,” said Burt immediately after the Mexico City race ended. “Mexico City was so encouraging to show up with a brand new car and have that kind of pace. The Doran guys worked so hard to have the Dallara ready to go, and it showed with the way everything went all weekend. Now we have some data to work with in terms of setting the car up and being ready for VIR, so I can’t wait for this weekend to get started. Hopefully we can just pick up where we left off last week and keep this going at VIR.”

But if Burt is going to get the new machine to the podium, it’s quite possible that he’ll have to muscle by his younger brother Brian to do so.

Brian, co-driving with Mark Wilkins in the Aim Autosport entry, suffered mixed fortunes in Mexico City as a small part failure meant extra time in the pits, slowing the progress for the front-row starting Ford-Riley combination. The entry scored 6th on the VIR grid in qualifying last year, and will look to do even better this weekend.

“It was a shame the way Mexico City played out, but with such a strong race car, at least we only have to wait a week to go racing again,” said Brian. “We know that some good results are just around the corner so long as we can get a little luck to go our way. This race was Daytona Prototype-only last year, but I think it’s going to be a lot more interesting this year with both the GT cars and the DP’s out there. Also, with this two-day weekend, it’s going to be a fast weekend. I just can’t wait to get going.”

The Virginia International Raceway weekend is a two-day Rolex Sports Car Series event, with practice and qualifying on Saturday, April 26th in advance of the two-hour and forty-five minute race on Sunday. The race will be broadcast on a tape-delay basis on Speed Channel-May 3rd.
